dynamic and interactive
Can children really borrow books themselves?
Yes, in fact Junior Librarian makes issuing and returning books child play.
In Circulate, children use the barcode reader to scan the barcode label inside the book and then scan the reader barcode on their reader card or touch their thumb or finger to the Identikit scanner to issue resources. Items can be returned by simply scanning the barcode label inside the book.
If several books need to be issued or returned quickly, the multi issue and return options can be activated by staff or pupil librarians
The ‘My Books’ option allows your pupils to check and print a list of their current and past loans.
Inspired technology,
right at your fingertips...
Exciting and fun to use the optional Identikit module is the ultimate solution to replacing lost, forgotten or damaged library cards. Thousands of our existing Junior Librarian schools are enjoying fantastic improvements in borrowing figures and the profile of their library simply by using this new feature.
The technology uses biometric fingerprint recognition, creating a unique, encrypted identification number for each individual during the registration process. No image of the fingerprint itself is ever stored and the unique number that is generated during registration can never be used to recreate an image of the original scan. This highly secure system has been proven to be extremely successful in an increasing
number of schools. |

Give resources a star rating...
Your pupils can create their own reviews of the resources they’ve borrowed. The simple step by step questions guide pupils through creating their own reviews and can easily be customised to suit your specific needs. Once the reviews have been approved by the Library Manager they will be available for other pupils to read in the Enquiry module.
Junior Librarian also includes a ‘read aloud’ feature to help encourage special needs pupils or those with learning difficulties. When activated this feature allows Junior Librarian to read the review back to your pupils. |

why not take the quiz...

Simple and advanced searching... |

|
Children of all abilities will find searching for resources a colourful and exciting experience. Simple picture based
searching allows less able children to use the Enquiry module with ease. The default simple search option allows children to perform a search by typing in all or part of a word relating to the resource they are looking for. This can be anything including part of the title, author, subject, keyword or even the classification number. The advanced search option allows children to be more specific in their investigation, introducing pupils to Boolean logic to limit the extent of their searches.

Internet solutions... |
Increasing numbers of libraries and resource centres are realising the importance of making their catalogues accessible to a much wider audience. MLSLibraries.net allows you to upload your catalogue data to our secure server. Your data is managed and protected by us and your pupils can search your catalogue and create reviews over the internet at school and at home using most standard web browsers.
Alternatively, for a fully web based solution, our new .net version of Junior Librarian offers you increased functionality including personalised OPAC screens, multilingual capability, integration with VLEs and is designed to support thin client architecture. |
